Trout season in Missouri starts March 1

Missouri Trout Season

Are you an outdoors enthusiast? So are we! Fishing is a common activity in rural Missouri, and we wanted to list some brief information for the upcoming season.

Opening day of trout season begins March 1 and runs through October 31. We have two primary species available in Missouri: the rainbow trout and the brown trout. A fishing license is required, as well as a park day pass. Here are a couple great Central Missouri locations to visit for trout fishing:

On the border of Phelps County and Crawford County sits Maramec Spring Park. This beautiful spring is filled with rainbow trout, stocked daily by the Missouri Department of Conservation. Visit their website for more information: maramecspringpark.com

Montauk State Park is located in Dent County. Montauk State Park’s premier attraction is trout fishing, and the Current River contains both rainbow and brown trout. The pristine waters and natural surroundings of the Current River are an excellent background for trout fishing. For additional details, check out their website: mostateparks.com.
